English batting lineup

I am looking at this English batting lineup which is trying to save the first test match and you can see that they are a batter short.

With all due respect to Matt Prior, he should be at seven and Freddie Flintoff should be following him at eight. Collingwood is a number 6 at a stretch but personally I think if you want a bit of a tail then he should follow Prior at eight and Flintoff at nine... as much as he might not be a traditional number nine.

The question is - what does that do to the English attack - somebody has to fall away. Have to give this some thought...

Well one of the commentators have put it nicely about the English batsmen being "protected" by the English bowlers. In the recent times, it is the bowling attack that has carried the team. Apart from Strauss and Bopara, none of the batsmen have stood out in recent times. They have not been tested by a decent opposition until the Australians came in. Australia's bowlers aren't extraordinary either and most of the batsmen got themselves out. They don't look the same team as the one in SA. I suppose it is too early to say about the Australian bowling attack because the pitch was bitch to bowl on. Hilfy for me, was the only stand out bowler. He was consistent and was the only one who took wickets with intelligent bowling.
