Sigh....

A bit of a hiding at Kingsmead last night but I'll be honest - I effectively switched off after I saw that we would be batting second under lights in Durban.

Useful performance from the Aussies though.

I see Ian over at The Baggy Green had some choice comments about the quality of the commentary provided by our local guys. I know it's something I've blogged on as well - South Africans are a mile behind in terms of the quality of our TV producing and commentary accompanying our cricket.

It's something we are going to need to have to work on going forward especially with the IPL coming to SA....

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Every team has an off night. I don't think they played that badly in the first half, until the 30th over kicked it. They let things slip from there. Hussey took advantage of it.

What I've noticed is that Nitini has lost his edge during the death. He is strictly an opening bowler and with steyn leaving the field, they were at an disadvantage. As for the batting line, there is too much shuffling going on. I don't think Amla is an opener because he is not aggressive enough. I can see him opening in the test matches but he should come in at 4 in the ODIs. Similarly, the Australian, Clarke is at a disadvantage because he has looked confused opening for Australia. Morkel's rise to popularity seems to be getting to him. It seems like every time he goes into bat, people are expecting too much of him. For the past two games, he has looked very mediocre. I guess it comes with the territory. People should really calm down and let him just ease into the team. He is still a newbie as far as I am concerned.

I am hoping tomorrows match is a little better. Honestly, I am getting a bit tired of these two teams playing each other. It seems like it never ends. Never been a fan of back to back series.

Lots of chatter in the local press that Ntini is on his last legs... Dunno - some value in his experience but it irritates me to no end that they won't give Parnell an extended run.

The guy has just been given an SA contract, he's a left arm seamer (something we've been begging for) and he is fresh and enthusiastic - he should be playing a helluva lot more than he has been.

Watching Albie stroll in last night I had flash backs of a certain world cup with Lance Klusener stepping in and the fans ALWAYS expecting him to deliver the goods... good teams are strong when the whole team contributes - not when they simply back a single guy to always deliver.

It has been a long series agreed but (in my opinion) a great advert for cricket in general.
