Worlds most destructive batters...
... Here's a bit of fun - who is the worlds most consistently destructive batter??
Virender Sehwag of India is the guy who first springs to mind and Chris Gayle is another big hitting batter.
Not sure that Gayle has the consistency though. Kevin Pietersen, Andrew Symonds and Herschellle Gibbs are the other usual suspects.
Would be fun to throw it out to our readers and get some thoughts on who the most destructive batter in world cricket is at the moment...?
Have to say that I still rate Herschelle Gibbs as someone I wouldn't rush to bowl to...

you know, I was thinking about this the other day and he is one of the most destructive batsmen in the world. His square cut is the strongest i've ever seen. I would also say Gayle is in that category too, once he gets going.
I always thought Shahid Afridi would've been just as good as Sehwag and the rest that you mentioned, but he just never got his head into the game. One or two innings that he did play were absolute pleasure to watch. He seems to be turning into a bowling Allrounder now. I would also add McCullum to that list too.
Yeah agreed - Afridi doesn't come across as a "thinking" type of cricketer... He comes off so rarely
McCullum also maturing into a decent ODI batter as well
Jesse Ryder of NZ, is another decent one. Not in the category mentioned but he is getting there. He is a strong hitter of the ball. He could be good if he keeps his head in the game and not the trouble he gets into. I noticed he also gives his wicket away easily.
It doesn't matter how hard and far you can hit the ball - if you don't have a brain to go with it then you're stuffed!
